Job Summary:
The Town of Bar Harbor is seeking an experienced and dynamic IT Director to oversee all aspects of information technology within the town. Reporting to the Finance Director, the IT Director will be responsible for managing and maintaining the town's IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and systems. Additionally, the IT Director will play a crucial role in assisting with the creation and implementation of remote work capabilities for town employees.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage and maintain the town's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, computers, and software systems.
2. Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of all IT equipment and software.
3. Ensure the security and integrity of the town's IT systems and data through the implementation of robust security measures and protocols.
4. Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure efficient and effective use of technology resources.
5. Provide technical support and assistance to town employees, resolving IT-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.
6. Collaborate with department heads and staff to assess IT needs and requirements, and develop and implement solutions to meet those needs.
7. Research and recommend new technologies and systems to enhance the town's IT capabilities and improve efficiency and productivity.
8. Assist with the development and implementation of remote work capabilities for town employees, including the setup of remote access solutions and the provision of technical support and training.
9. Manage vendor relationships, including contract negotiation, procurement, and oversight of third-party IT services and solutions.
10. Stay informed about developments and trends in the field of information technology, and make recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT management, preferably in a municipal or government setting.
- Strong technical knowledge and proficiency in IT infrastructure, systems administration, networking, and security.
- Experience with remote work technologies and solutions, including VPNs, remote desktop software, and collaboration tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Must have good communication skills and be able to meet with department heads across the Town to identify their IT needs.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead a team and drive results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Proven ability to develop and implement IT strategies, policies, and procedures that align with organizational goals and objectives.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNA, MCSE) preferred.
- Availability after hours in case of emergencies that require attention.
