IT Vendor Relationship Director designs and implements the organization's strategic technology vendor management program to meet company needs and comply with required quality standards. Selects providers and oversees procurement of IT products and services to monitor and maintain operational costs and budgets. Being an IT Vendor Relationship Director administers the request for proposals process to vet the reputation and quality of vendor products. Negotiates service level agreements to ensure performance/quality metrics, responsibilities, expectations, and penalties are clearly defined. Additionally, IT Vendor Relationship Director works closely with managers and teams to monitor, maintain, and improve existing vendor relationships. Conducts regular business reviews to ensure compliance with company expectations, review issues, and develop solutions. May require experience with software licensing and hardware procurement. Requires a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline. Typically reports to top management. The IT Vendor Relationship Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an IT Vendor Relationship Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The Albuquerque Academy Technology Department is seeking an individual for the position of IT Director. This position is responsible for both strategic planning and implementation of key educational technology initiatives and day-to-day management of projects and staff.     Essential Functions

    • Manage a team of IT professionals. Duties include mentorship, performance evaluations, ongoing administrative tasks, and professional development.
    • Develop and manage an annual technology budget. Includes approval and reconciliation of technology expenses.
    • Oversee the design and implementation of the school’s technology infrastructure, including end-user devices, servers, cloud solutions, networking, and system and data security. A crucial aspect of infrastructure management is the maintenance of a disaster recovery/business continuity plan.
    • Oversee the design and implementation of the school’s cyber security plan, and underlying systems to ensure we have best in class technology and monitoring.
    • Collaborate with administration and faculty to ensure that technology effectively supports, and is integrated into, the curriculum.
    • Support the School and its mission, always maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
    • Foster and maintain a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy. 
    • Demonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences.
    • Maintain, or oversee the maintenance of, a limited number of applications developed in-house using Microsoft Visual Basic.
    • Management of both the software and hardware cycles.

    Other Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff to align technology with the school's educational goals.
    • Communicate effectively with the school community about technology-related initiatives.
    • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends.
    • Attend employee meetings as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    Job Qualifications

    Education

    • A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a field related to technology or business administration.
    • Coursework in computer science, computer/network engineering, or business administration is preferred.

    Experience

    • At minimum five (5) years of experience in Information Technology is required.
    • Experience in education, preferably independent school education is a plus. 

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

    • Familiarity with project management software, such as Asana, is preferred.
    • Familiarity with student information system software, specifically Veracross, is highly preferred.
    • Fluency in office productivity tools, such as Microsoft Office or Google Education Fundamentals is required.
    • Critical thinking and planning skills are essential.

    Special Requirements

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

    Working Environment

    • Majority of work is performed in an indoor setting on campus.
    • Core work hours are generally from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The position does require some work outside these hours, based on school needs.

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to lift and carry up to twenty-five pounds with or without assistance
