Under the direction of the Manager of Career Readiness and Employment, develops job opportunities, internships, and continued employment for students with autism. Build relationships with employers and community organizations to facilitate competitive job placements.

Part II. Position Information
Title: Employer Engagement Coordinator
Location: Richmond
Title of Immediate Supervisor: Manager of Career Readiness and Employment
Salary: $20 to $22 an hour
Type: Full Time

Part. III. Primary function of the position
- Support neurodivergent adolescents/adults with autism and similar disabilities, by identifying job opportunities in the community.
- Engage employers to develop relationships and job opportunities for students.
- Support to Commonwealth Autism
Part IV. Specific functions of the Position:
- Support neurodivergent adolescents/adults with autism and similar disabilities,
by identifying job opportunities in the community.
- Contribute to a safe and growth-oriented environment by following all protocols as outlined in the Career Readiness and Employment Manual.
- Establish and maintain productive and professional relationships while respecting the independence of the students.
- Maintain an atmosphere that is friendly and courteous by coaching and modeling appropriate work behaviors. Communicate clearly about work expectations.
- Support individualized development plans in collaboration with students, counselors, managers, and family members/supportive parties.
- Communicate with client families as needed to address client concerns.
- Handle emergencies of a physical, health, or mental nature in a timely and appropriate fashion, notifying the Adult Services Manager or other designated official.
- Assesses the training, experience, and personal qualifications of program participants and matches them with employer’s required qualifications.
- Supports students throughout job search and interview process, including help filling out applications, attending interviews, contacting employers, and visiting job sites.
- Gathers, analyzes and maintains data and statistical information to evaluate effectiveness of services and to identify goals to meet student and program needs.
- Keep records and documentation and prepare appropriate reports.
2. Engage employers to develop relationships and job opportunities for students.
- Develops job opportunities and internships for program participants with autism.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with local employers, business organizations, and community groups to develop job leads for students with autism.
- Researches and maintains current job listings and develops resources for students to identify current job openings related to their identified career goal.
- Plans marketing and outreach services to promote employer awareness of potential qualified employees with autism.
- Visits local employers to evaluate job content, working environment, and the ability of the employer to meet job accommodations and solutions to employment barriers.
- Supports students throughout job search and interview process, including help filling out applications, attending interviews, contacting employers, and visiting job sites.

- Keep records and documentation and prepare appropriate reports.
Part V. Qualifications:
Experience:
- Experience working with adults with disabilities highly desirable in fields such as job development,
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to interact positively with adults with developmental disorders.
- Ability to use electronic equipment, such as, computer, telephone, etc.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Good driving record.
- First Aid certification desirable.
- CPR certification desirable.
- Education:
- Prefer at least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 2 years of related experience. Related field or experience is defined as: Human Services, Workforce Development, Career Counseling, or other education or work with adolescents and/or adults with autism that is determined to be equivalent.
