Kitchen Manager manages the daily operations of the kitchen, which may include but not limited to: accounting, finance, staff working schedule, inventory control and equipment supplies. Responsible for employees' training. Being a Kitchen Manager oversees other departments that contribute to the operations of the kitchen. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Kitchen Manager typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Kitchen Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. To be a Kitchen Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Salary:                                3-1; $14.63 per hour. Hourly rate to be negotiated based on experience, education, and training.
     
    Hours:                                 M-F; 8 hours per day (6:30 am-3:00 pm); 183 days

    Job Description:
    This job is all about kids.  This job is a 8-hour full-time position.  You will work on your feet for most of that time.   You will prep and serve both breakfast and lunch.  Each day you will have production records to complete online and orders to place for whatever is needed.  Excellent communication and punctuality are a must.   We provide healthy meals to a large number of students.  The job is very fast paced with a variety of tasks going on at the same time.
     
    Qualifications:
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Experience managing a food production operation or commercial kitchen.
    • Food Safety Training or Serv Safe certified.
    • Ability to maintain accurate records/reports.
    • Ability to instruct, train, supervise, evaluate, and discipline employees.
    • Ability to relate well to students and staff.
    • Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.
    • Must maintain a high standard of personal hygiene.
    • Ability to operate POS System.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, and have full range of motion to complete daily tasks in a safe manner.
     
    Responsibilities:
    • Supervises kitchen staff.
    • Prepares management reports and maintains production records. Assists Director of Food Service with regular evaluations for kitchen staff.
    • Maintains product levels through purchasing, receiving and inventory control.
    • Assists with hiring decisions of kitchen staff.
    • Conducts daily inspections of all areas of the facility to insure compliance with established standards.
    • Prepares and delivers effective and ongoing sanitation training and ensures staff compliance with sanitation standards.  Conducts daily inspections of all areas of the facility to insure compliance with established standards.
    • Supervises student meal service to insure the requirements for reimbursable meals are being met.
    • Fills in when and wherever needed to insure efficient kitchen operation.
    • Communicates with students, teachers and parents to obtain feedback on food service experience.
    • Ensures production records and reports are maintained in accordance with state and federal requirements.
    • Responsible to ensure Health Department inspections are passed.

    • Proactively maintains equipment to ensure top performance and life.
    • A current and thorough knowledge of state requirements for school food
    • service is maintained as measured by random testing.
    • Food is of consistent quality because it is prepared by standardized recipe and sanitation standards.
    • Guest concerns are resolved quickly and to the satisfaction of the guest.
    • Facilities are always neat and clean.
    • Other duties as assigned.
     
    Job Summary
    The Kitchen Manager supervises and coordinates food services at the middle school to ensure proper nutrition and safeguard the health of students, staff and visitors and maintain requirements of USDA child nutrition program. To accomplish these tasks the Kitchen Manager must work closely with the staff and administration.
