    Serves as the point of contact for System Office/system-level grievances, This position conducts system-level grievances and investigates grievances filed by employees from the UI campuses; system office investigations; mediations, reviews policies and makes recommendations related to labor relations, grievance administration,; conducts research and makes recommendations on related human resources topics; and assists the Assistant/Associate Director for DEI&B with system-wide EEO, diversity and compliance requirements.

    Additional responsibilities included:

    • Perform the system-level grievance appeal process and serve as the Senior Associate VP/CHRO's designee for grievance hearings by conducting independent investigations of grievances.
    • Consult with university staff, university administrators, and union representatives to obtain information and documentation needed to render system-level grievance responses.
    • Serve as a mediator for employee relations matters and conflict resolution for system office units.
    • Manage the formal complaint process and serve as a point of contact in determining the appropriate processes based on the nature of the complaint. Coordinate the investigative process and serve as an investigator.
    • Research topics and issues related to labor and employee relations and offer recommendations regarding policies and procedures for resolving issues identified as part of the grievance and complaint processes.
    • Conduct research, gather data and analyze information regarding nondiscrimination, affirmative action, and diversity and then provide recommendations for improving processes and/or ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal laws as well as University policies.
    • Oversee the Ethics Training Discipline phase for all three universities and the system office.
    • Ensure compliance with the Records Retention Plan by managing the grievance, discharge, and job search recordkeeping process.
    • Serve as a mediator for resolution of informal complaints and/or conflicts.
    • Assist with maintaining and updating content in the Diversity section of the System HR website.
    • Respond to data requests for internal and external institutional reporting requirements related to EEO, ADA, Acessibility, Title VII, Title IX, and other related requests.
    • Other duties as assigned appropriate for a Human Resources Specialist/Coordinator.

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.

    Knowledge and Experience:
    • Two to five years of experience in human resource administration or related experience that demonstrates the application of laws to policies and procedures and/or demonstrated experience in employee relations, labor relations, or equal opportunity and knowledge/experience in human resource systems.
    • Knowledge of state and federal employment law.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft applications.
