Position Details
The Child Nutrition Manager will manage all nutrition related programs and services for the Genesee Intermediate School District.
The district provides a wide variety of programs and services to students, staff, and parents in the district and around Genesee County.
The Child Nutrition Manager is responsible for the operation of food service at six buildings and a variety of grant-funded programs and services.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to) :
Develops, plans and evaluates recipes and / or menus based on recommended nutritional requirements, budgeted resources and solicited input from students, parents and staff.
Establishes sound financial management techniques and modern food service management principles.
Establishes and directs preparation, handling and holding processes that provide for nutritious, wholesome, and safe food and meet State and local health department standards.
Manages all food service staff including selection, training, scheduling and supervision.
Organizes and implements a program for the selection, purchase, storage and inventory control of food and supplies for all operations within the food service program.
Develops, implements, and evaluate training programs for personnel at all levels in the food service program.
Plan and conduct regular staff meetings.
Evaluates and ensures that staff follow safe food handling techniques at all times and preparation environments are clean, and in good working condition.
Ensures clean and properly equipped work and storage areas that meet State and local health department standards.
Ensure that safe food handling techniques and methods are maintained during all food preparation and service.
Establish and atmosphere in which students will be encouraged to eat high quality, healthy, and nutritious meals.
Complete all reports and school nutrition services in accordance with USDA and Michigan Department of Education guidelines and requirements.
Serves as resource person for nutrition education activities.
Presents lessons, workshops, and training on basic nutrition.
Attends staff and program meetings as directed.
Maintains organized, complete files to meet program requirements.
Attends professional development opportunities to meet annual training requirements and as directed by the director of Health, Safety and Nutrition.

Education :
Bachelor’s degree from accredited education institution in Institutional Food Service Management, Hospitality, Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field preferred with extensive school / healthcare food service administrative experience preferred.
ServSafe certified or ability to be certified within 90 days of employment. Previous experience as a Food Service Director or closely related experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
