Laboratory Assistant performs research activities in a laboratory environment to aid in the planning, designing, and conducting of experiments. Collects, prepares, and tests samples and records measurements or observations. Being a Laboratory Assistant prepares reports detailing results and conclusions, applications, and methodology. Conducts routine maintenance and safety checks on lab equipment to ensure working order. Additionally, Laboratory Assistant assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials and the ordering and stocking of materials and equipment. May be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Laboratory Assistant work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Laboratory Assistant typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. The Laboratory Services Director will be responsible for oversight of all laboratory services within this acute care facility. Working closely with and reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer COO, the Laboratory Director will provide clinical management of the laboratory, ensuring all employees follow quality and infection control policies, and guidelines in accordance with The Joint Commission, CLIA, OSHA, and CAP. The Laboratory Director will demonstrate strong leadership skills, motivating their team to deliver quick lab test turn-around times in order to ultimately ensure high quality patient care outcomes.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology, active Medical Technologist (MT) ASCP Certification, 3 years of progressive laboratory leadership experience within the acute care setting.
