We are seeking a Laboratory Technician who will be responsible for performing a variety of high complexity molecular laboratory techniques, such as DNA/RNA extraction, QPCR, and data analysis. In this role, the Molecular Laboratory Technician will be handling sensitive equipment to analyze specimens, conduct tests, and report findings to the laboratory manager.
An ideal candidate will be comfortable working with possibly hazardous pathogens or chemicals and is confident in their ability to follow safety guidelines in the workplace. Persons who have experience with clinical toxicology, genetics/NGS, DNA extraction, CGX/PGX, and/or QPCR would be at a marked advantage in this role.
An individual with experience in the Technical Laboratory field who would describe themselves as flexible with dynamic priorities and passionate about patient care will flourish here.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Independently and accurately perform routine and complex molecular testing, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Record and document experimental data accurately
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow
- Prepare specimens for testing and analysis using various laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Review, record, and release specimen test results from Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Compile and maintain records according to laboratory policies to ensure state and federal regulations are upheld for all reagents, procedures, and equipment used in the testing process.
- Ensure adherence to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and other safety and procedural guidelines.
- Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control procedures, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenances performed.
- Maintain records demonstrating proper handling and reporting of proficiency specimens.
- Execute and adhere to all safety protocols, including the handling of hazardous biological agents and chemicals, potentially hazardous chemicals, hazard clean-up, universal precautions, and infection control procedures.
- Assist in the development, validation, and implementation of new laboratory methods/services.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues & brainstorm improvements to laboratory processes.
REQUIREMENTS
- Florida Tech Liscenced
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Sciences field (biology, chemistry, medical technology, etc.)
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in a laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in working with standard & high complexity laboratory equipment & instruments.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow protocols & instructions accurately.
- Outstanding attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
