JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE
Responsible for the management of Licensed Vocational Nurses and the Hepatobiliary Coordinator within the CHI St.
Luke’s Center for Liver Disease – Hepatology Clinic. also Provides clinical support to ensure optimal patient flow.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. SUPERVISORY
a. Promotes the hospital’s core values and goals to employees, physicians and others.
b. Directly Supervises the Licensed Vocational Nurses and Hepatobiliary Coordinator.
c. Assists Business Operations Manager with human resource management Functions.
d. Organizes Hepatology Clinic operations to maintain efficient work flow and productivity.
e. Resolves patient issues in a timely manner.
f. Meets with Radiology and Endoscopy departments monthly to review scheduling and authorization processes.
g. Assists in the development of Hep C patient protocols.
h. Serves as a super‐user with the clinic’s electronic medical record and scheduling system.
2. CLINICAL SUPPORT
a. Answers and appropriately triages patient phone calls.
b. Reviews treatment protocols and clinic visit schedule with patients.
c. Obtains authorization for and schedules endoscopies, radiographic tests and lab tests.
d. Performs initial insurance authorization for medication and arranges medication refills with insurance providers,
pharmacies and patients. Provides medication reconciliation.
e. Notifies practitioner when patients are ready to start HCV treatment medications.
f. Composes routine correspondence to patients.
g. Rooms patients and Performs vitals as needed.
h. Performs other duties as assigned.
3. MANAGERIAL DUTIES
a. Lead clinical issue resolutions committees
b. Lead EPIC implementation and audit electronic records for accuracy and timeliness of entry
c. Responsible for staff performance improvement process, including counseling, auditing, and communication
d. Ensures accuracy for all billable patient accounts
e. Responsible for patient satisfaction results
f. Manages time cards, PTO requests, and other employee time issues
g. Manages of physician relationships and Baylor‐ relationships
h. Serves as liaison between the Liver Transplant Clinic and the Hepatology Clinic
i. Assists in budget process and other finances (revenue cycle, etc.)
