Land Support Agent Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the support and administration of all land related activities. Prepares special reports as required by management, reviewing all other specialized reports as well as lease and royalty paperwork, coordinating changes or corrections as required. Being a Land Support Agent Supervisor serves as a liaison to the legal department and land purchasing department to ensure that there are no land title or other land related issues. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Land Support Agent Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Land Support Agent Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Land Support Agent Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Your Role With Us:

    The Supervisor of Specimen Management is responsible for assisting the Manager and Lead Lab Assistants with maintaining/developing standard work, procedures and policies required for performing duties within the section, and in ensuring that standard work, policy and procedure manuals are updated, meet accreditation standards and needs of all personnel who work in the area.

    Core Functions:

    • Assists with the prioritization and performance of the daily workload within the area. Supervision over staff in providing technical expertise and guidance. Position will assist with staffing, scheduling, and performance assessments, as requested by manager.
    • Assists in schedule development, annual performance review and competency assignment.
    • Provides immediate feedback to staff on performance; Works with Manager and Lead Lab Assistants in the assessment of workload and distribution of labor.
    • Develops new training and proficiency programs; Ensures appropriate and consistent training of new employees; Oversees current employee training on new and revised procedures; Evaluates the ongoing technical performance of lead lab assistant and trainers.
    • Works with Manager to assure ongoing educational needs are met; Develops and implements pertinent and effective annual competencies; Develops and implements annual Quality Assurance (QA) projects for Specimen Management; Ensures QA program is well documented and followed; Works effectively with Manager and staff to share information and foster high levels of staff involvement and decision making.
    • Assists in the setting, completion and monitoring of A3 goals for the laboratory; Produces regular reports as required; Promotes innovative ideas to improve department performance.
    • Timely submission and review of patient safety alerts (PSA’s); Works with Lead Lab Assistants to provide adequate follow up to PSA’s to assure continuous improvement of quality.
    • Serves as resource for the operation of appropriate Laboratory and Hospital Information systems; Ensures that all staff maintains a thorough working knowledge regarding the use of each system; Understands processes between Hospital Information system and LIS as pertains to area; Ensures appropriate downtime procedures and related materials are current and complete for area.

    Background/Expertise:

    • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree (Bachelor degree preferred) with a background in health or biological sciences
    • Three (3) years of related work experience in laboratory area of comparable complexity and services, exhibiting extensive and current knowledge of laboratory operations
    • Three (3) years previous supervisory experience preferred; Must possess strong communication and project management skills; Effective communication with all members of the health care team is essential.
    • Ability to analyze current methods and processes, look for improvements and develop reports/recommendations; Ability to detect and investigate problems, make evaluations supported by tangible evidence, ability to provide consultation to physicians, nurses and others in area of specialization.
