Land Surveyors Manager jobs in Chico, CA

Land Surveyors Manager manages and coordinates surveys and investigations of land surfaces. Ensures compliance to all applicable regulations and requirements including boundary calculations and legal issues. Being a Land Surveyors Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to land surveying team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Additionally, Land Surveyors Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Land Surveyors Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Land Surveyors Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Where possible, gain practical experience with the following:
    The responsibilities of a district manager fall into six main areas:

    1. Knowledge of your job and your area

    2. Customer service

    3. Employee hiring and retention

    4. Employee training and evaluation

    5. Liaison between AL&L and our partner

    6. Managing a business

    Knowledge of Your Job and Your Area

    1. Study the Operating Plan of your assigned area. And teach it to your employees..

    2. You can recommend changes in the yearly Operating Plan Addendum.

    3. Know the day-to-day operations of the whole area.

    4. Know the specific desires of your Forest Service or PG&E partner.

    5. Identify needed improvements and recommend them as G-T Projects.

    6. Know and fulfill the agreements between AL&L and our partner.

    Customer Service

    You have three sets of customers:
    1. The campers who come to use the campgrounds and facilities you manage..

    2. Your staff, including: the Campground Hosts, the Payroll Clerk and the Facility Lead.

    3. Your local Forest Service or PG&E partners.

    Employee Hiring and Retention

    The key to your success will be quality employees.

    1. You should work with and assist Human Resources to properly staff your district.

    2. Always be recruiting potential campground hosts.

    3. At the end of the season encourage your employees to return to work next year.

    4. If an employee doesnt want to return to the same campground, encourage them to fill out the Employee Transfer Request Form. We need to keep our employees in our company.

    Employee Training and Evaluation

    1. Hold an orientation meeting and monthly safety meetings with your employees. Provide

    2. Provide training in a one-on-one situation with employees, as needed.

    3. Conduct audits and inspections throughout the season to monitor employee work quality and to verify that the required work is done according to contract specifications.

    4. Identify camp hosts that have the potential for promotion.

    Liaison Between AL&L and Our Partner

    Each district manager is the representative between AL&L and the Forest Service or PG&E.

    1. Build and strengthen the relationship of AL&L with our permit administrators. You must be able to make friends with the Forest Service. Work as a partnership.

    2. Work with the Forest Service or PG&E representatives at a local level to discuss and handle company issues.

    3. You are empowered to act in AL&Ls name and in the companys best interest.

    Managing a Business

    1. Make decisions that are financially sound and that help your area remaining profitable.

    2. Properly manage your budget of campground host work hours budget, including increasing or decreasing work hours based on actual need.

    3. Be organized and accurate with company finances, bookkeeping and cash handling.

    This is a seasonal employment opportunity. AL&L maintains a bi-weekly payroll. Compensation is based upon hours assigned and worked. Wage rates are based upon the prevailing minimum wage. Hours may fluctuate according to usage and weather.

    Managers work 3 to 8 hours per day, 6 days a week. We assign the hours for each campground based on our knowledge and past experience. Couples can share the hours as you desire, but the hours must reflect the actual hours worked by each couple. We employ single campground managers where the workload warrants only one person. Uniforms are required and are provided. Employees are given one day off per week. This is usually a Tuesday or Wednesday, but other arrangements can be made if approved by the District Manager.
