Landscape Architect Manager supervises all related activities of a staff of landscape architects and technicians. Oversees, manages, and schedules the development of exterior spaces and physical environments, the development of schematic designs and construction details, and is ultimately responsible for final project. Being a Landscape Architect Manager requires a bachelor's degree in a related field. Typically reports to a top management. The Landscape Architect Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Landscape Architect Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     HKS Miami is searching for a talented Sr. Landscape Architect to join their team.

    A recognized leader and qualified Landscape Architect who is responsible for envisioning, designing and delivering exceptional projects for clients. Possesses strong communication skills, a flexible attitude, ability to solve problems creatively and ability to foster and manage effective client and team relationships. Responsible for high-impact decisions. Provides design & technical leadership and acts as an advisor on projects. Endorses the firm's values by personally influencing client service, innovation and communication. Acts as subject matter expert for technical solutions.

    Responsibilities:

    • Leads Landscape team and others in planning work and developing solutions to technical and design detail problems
    • Collaborates with PIC in defining project work plans and developing and managing the production schedule, including effectively defining and meeting deadlines
    • Applies creative thinking to achieve innovative solutions
    • May produce and supervise production of graphic materials for presentation
    • Leads the creation and modification of complex detailed implementation documents to incorporate the design intent, using diverse knowledge of landscape architecture principles and practices and advanced techniques
    • Supervises the preparation of documents by landscape team, including verifying implementation documents conform to QA/QC and HKS standards, best practice and quality expectations
    • Writes reports or specifications for assigned project
    • Prepares client presentations and presents design concepts and drawings
    • Maintains open communication with client and provides guidance through projects
    • Coordinates with project leads, clients, public agencies, consultants and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications and modifications, and obtain approvals, negotiations and adjusting scope of services
    • Communicates with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews and delivery of final presentation
    • Exercises skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issues
    • Oversees the work of the consultant team
    • Oversees product and planting research; assists project designers with material and system evaluation to make proper selections
    • Maintains awareness of risk management for potential project issues and involves PIC if needed
    • Participates in team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues and coordination with other disciplines
    • Attends on-site visits and project meetings and documents as needed
    • Responsible for preparing and/or reviewing meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings

    Qualifications:

    • Accredited professional degree in Landscape Architecture or related field
    • Landscape Architect (L.A.) License required
    • Typically, 15 years of experience
    • Sustainable design accreditation preferred
    • Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD and 3D modeling software preferred
    • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup and InDesign graphic software preferred
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred
    • Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines
    • Advanced knowledge of QA/QC process
    • Advanced knowledge of codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into implementation documents
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
    • Ability to manage team with diplomatic leadership style which puts value on relationships and collaboration, both internal and external
    • Ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships
    • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to problem solve and apply innovative solutions
    • Ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment
    • Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
    • Travel will be required.
