Lawn Service Manager manages the daily activities of workers engaged in pruning trees and shrubs, cultivating lawns, and applying pesticides and other chemicals according to service contract specifications. Develops and implements policies and procedures for the unit. Being a Lawn Service Manager may require an associate's degree or its equivalent with at least 5 years of experience in the field. Generally manages a group of nonexempt employees. Additionally, Lawn Service Manager relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Typically reports to a senior manager. • Assists with opening/closing store and cash management responsibilities (as assigned).• Assists in interviewing, selecting and training new employees in cooperation with Human Resources.• Communicates with Buyers regarding merchandising, new product implementation and appropriate pricing. Promptly follows through with Buyer directions.• Assigns duties to workers and schedules break periods, work hours, and vacations (if applicable) based on the needs of the business and according to upcoming special store events.• Functions as a working manager willing to perform any department responsibility as needed.• Handles damages/returns and ensures that proper credits have been received from vendors.• Handles vendor invoices, company invoices and inter-company transfers on a daily basis to ensure timely billing.• Has knowledge of current inventories and ordering systems to effectively oversee the ordering of departmental supplies and merchandise from approved vendors.• Supervises and performs departmental inventories to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.• Trains employees in store policies, department procedures, product knowledge and job duties to ensure they are working in a productive and safe manner.
• Previous managerial experience required.
• Product knowledge required: pesticides; grass seeds and various other lawn care products; water gardening; hardware, patio and gas grills.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
