The Department of Employee Insurance (DEI) administers a $1.9 billion, self-funded, health insurance program along with optional life, dental and vision insurances, and flexible spending accounts for nearly 300,000 public employees and their dependents.
The Data Analysis Branch (DAB) is responsible for ensuring integrity of data, development, testing, maintenance, and transmittal of files, databases, and/or programs associated with DEI daily operations, both administrative and financial. DAB also provides analytic, administrative, and program support to the various areas within DEI related to health, dental, vision, and life insurance benefit programs. DAB serves as DEI’s representatives and/or point of contacts (POCs) for various systemic, data, and financial endeavors with internal and/or external customers, which includes vendors, members, Insurance Coordinators, Billing Liaisons and technical staff.
Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Research, analyze and correct specialized insurance benefits accounting and enrollment data.
- Run and maintain benefits accounting and/or enrollment reports for internal and external customers.
- Run, test, maintain, and transmit files, databases and programs associated with DEI daily operations, both administrative and financial.
- Work with the TPA, contractors, department and cabinet employees to maintain integrity of DEI operations and functionality within various systems, including the Kentucky Human Resources Information System (KHRIS).
Preferred skills and abilities:
- Advanced to expert skills with standard reporting and analytic Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Access.
- Experience with health insurance, optional insurances, and FSA/HRA enrollment and financial administration.
- Experience working with KHRIS, Insurance and/or Billing & Collections systems.
- Experience working with other reporting and analytic tools, such as Business Warehouse, Tableau, and PowerBI.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Works well as part of a team
