Summary
Responsible for welcoming the patient into the care delivery setting and initiates the documentation required for the patient's clinical care as well as the financial clearance. Ensures accurate patient admission/registration. Works closely with both the financial team and the clinical team to ensure the optimum patient experience, accurate registration, and maximum cash flow and reimbursements.
Position Reports To: Rehab Services Director
Essential Functions
- Completion of pre-registration, insurance verifications, pre-authorization needs, and assist with post visit follow-up
- Answer and triage both internal and external calls in a friendly and prompt manner; prioritizing and delegating as needed
- Greets and addresses all who enter through the Rehab Entrance in a sensible, welcoming and professional way
- Scheduling, rescheduling, canceling and checking-in new and recurring patients. Acknowledging, requesting and collecting patient payments for services and goods received in the therapy and DME areas
- Daily coordination with supervisors, leads, therapists and support staff and oversight of daily staff to ensure smooth flow with excellent written and oral communication skills. Maintains a close and professional relationship with patient advocates, financial services, pre-billers and denials to optimize and assist with the billing process
- Independently works assigned work queue and wait list to ensure patient satisfaction and timely patient access to therapies at Confluence Health.
- Ability to operate office equipment. Assisting in creation of forms, reports, and letters and meeting minutes as requested by supervisors
- Confirmation and review of accurate orders. Entering external orders and referrals promptly, following a prescreen process as required. Scanning, forwarding and prioritizing of incoming medical records for new and current patients
- Capable of identifying urgent requests and special cases. The ability to continually reprioritize and pay close attention to detail as many interruptions may occur, while completing tasks and activities on time
- Participates in training of co-workers, education and updating of all staff members for new/updated procedures. Actively participates in departmental process improvements
- Continual patient assistance through the healthcare system, staying in close contact with therapists, providers, payers and patients. Follows up and completes tasks needed to promptly provide quality patient care before, during and after the patient leaves our facility
- Addresses patient concerns with empathy and urgency. Forwards confidential details to supervisors as needed in a timely fashion
- Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.

Qualifications
Required:
- Ability to prioritize assignments and effective time management skills
- Must be detail oriented, flexible and committed to providing excellent customer service

- Demonstrates skills in planning, organizing, and managing multiple functions and complex processes
Desired:
- Minimum of three years experience in related position, preferably healthcare
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Prior experience or knowledge of obtaining insurance authorizations
