NOTE: This is a part time position at this time.  Availability must include 8 - 12 pm daily Monday - Friday.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide comprehensive child development services and education through lesson planning and daily routines. Shows leadership skills in the classroom, working to create a high-quality environment where children can develop personal relationships, experiment, make choices, solve problems, and develop age-appropriate social-emotional and self-help skills. Responsible as the primary caregiver of assigned children. Brings enthusiasm and passion for early childhood education and shares experiences as part of a team, fostering a positive environment. SUPERVISION

• Supervised and evaluated by the Director and Site Coordinator.
• Jointly coordinates with other department staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Two years of experience in nutrition or food service is preferred.
• Certifications in First-Aid and CPR (Infant, Child, and Adult).

REQUIREMENTS 

• The ability to lift 30 lbs and work safely in a kitchen environment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage workflow, use effective time management, and solve problems as they arise.

If Employed by GV YMCA Healthy Learning Academy, Must Learn Center Policies and Procedures Regarding:

• Communicable disease and exclusion of sick children.
• First aid and infant, child, and adult CPR.

Requirements

BASIC FUNCTIONThe Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing the center’s meal program, adhering to CACFP, licensing, and program guidelines. This role encompasses preparing and serving nutritious meals, developing quarterly menus, preparing food and nutritional supply purchase requests, and ensuring health and safety standards compliance. Additionally, the Nutrition Coordinator is tasked to maintain accurate records, complete required training, and contribute to program efforts. Beyond the kitchen, this position involves engaging with children through nutrition education and activities, supporting classroom teachers, and fostering team communication. This role demands culinary, administrative, and interpersonal skills to support the center’s mission of providing high-quality child development services.
