    Position Summary

    The Division of Student Affairs (DoSA) is a forward-thinking student success operation committed to its role as the leading custodial unit guiding the student experience at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). Staff members within the Division of Student Affairs are expected to positively contribute to our mission of supporting students in the co-curricular environment and provide an experience that inspires students academically, intellectually, personally, and emotionally.

    The Work Based Learning and Fairs Coordinator champions work-based learning best practices and cultivates work-based learning opportunities for the campus community and serves as a member of the Center for Career Readiness’ team.

    Job Duties

    Career Fairs and Events Coordination (35%)

    • Serve as the main point of contact and liaison for all Center for Career Readiness Career Fairs (3 in Fall, 2 in Spring)
    • Coordinate all fairs registration, including invoicing and processing payments in collaboration with the Student Affairs Administrative Service Center
    • Coordinate fairs logistics with Conference and Events Services
    • Create and disseminate fairs marketing and promotional materials through close collaboration with the Student Affairs and Enrollment Services Marketing and Communications team as well as UNC’s Marketing and Communications team
    • Connect with external vendors as needed to design, purchase, and receive Career Fair materials
    • Utilize Handshake to maintain up-to-date records of fair attendance and trends to establish best practices
    • In collaboration with the Director, hire, supervise, train, and evaluate the Fairs and Events Graduate Assistant, who will be the secondary point of contact for Career Fairs and provide regularly assistance in fairs and events planning

    Work-Based Learning Coordination (35%)

    • Support requests from academic units seeking to track work-based learning opportunities using tools within Handshake
    • Collaborate with Director of Career and Experiential Learning to develop and maintain relationships with employers; and help employers interested in establishing work-based learning opportunities for UNC students
    • Serve as the main point of contact on the Handshake platform for UNC
    • Utilize Handshake for approving jobs and employers within the platform, coordinating on-campus interviews, compiling and leveraging data within Handshake to create reports and analytics on employer engagement
    • Create and deliver programming for UNC staff and faculty around student employment, including hiring, managing and developing student employees
    • Collaborate with Internship and Professional Experience Coordinators across campus to assist in work-based learning coordination
    • Serve as the main point of contact for UNC’s Parker Dewey micro-internships partnership

    Front Desk Supervision and Operations (15%)

    • Coordinate front desk operations to ensure that guests to the Center for Career Readiness are welcomed with a high-level of customer service
    • Monitor and respond to inquiries routed to the Center’s email and phone
    • Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate student hourly employees

    General Administration (15%)

    • Support Center for Career Readiness initiatives, events, and presentations for stakeholders internal and external to UNC
    • Perform regular purchasing and record keeping in compliance with UNC purchasing/procurement expectations
    • Assist Director and Associate Director with ongoing semester and annual reporting processes and assessment
    • Utilize various platforms and methodologies for soliciting and compiling feedback (email, Qualtrics, Handshake, etc.)
    • Participate in interdepartmental and community meetings and committee work on behalf of the Center for Career Readiness and Department of Student Affairs
    • Participate in training and professional development, as required
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in a business, career services/HR discipline preferred, other related degrees.
    • Master’s degree preferred or bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of related experience
    • Equivalent experience in lieu of the graduate education requirement would include: (1) working with diverse populations using effective communication, public relations, teaching or management experience to create professional relationships with diverse groups; (2) Event planning, program development, implement and evaluation experience; and (3) human resource, management, talent acquisition, experiential education program and/or recruiting experience.
    • Preferred requirements include a minimum of three years of higher education and/or public or private organizations experience in event planning, customer service, data management or work-based learning coordination;
    • Teaching and presentation experience with diverse audiences is preferred;
    • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are preferred; and
    • If a person filling the position has the minimum educational and experience qualifications, it would take nine to twelve months of on-the-job training to learn the full responsibilities of the job.

    Position requires knowledge of: academic standards and accreditation requirements, teaching/training techniques, world of work information and employment trends, ethical and regulatory standards for hiring practices, employment liability and law, experiential education practices, research and assessment methodologies.

    • Write, design and edit documents including reports, evaluations and assessments;
    • Utilize and practice effective critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills to others
    • Assess and implement program initiatives and conduct relevant evaluations;
    • Organize and lead meetings resulting in respectful, collaborative and professional working relationships;
    • Utilize competent computer and internet skills in program development, resource acquisition, constituent communications and presentations;
    • Develop program and performance goals, initiate and implement programs and consistently produce measurable results.

Employees at UNC receive sick leave, and other leave options may be available based on position. Full-time employees are eligible to receive tuition waiver benefits, as well as dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.
