Early Learning Coordinator

Position Summary:
- The Coordinator will provide leadership, support and professional development for best practice regarding Early Learning standards, assessment, characteristics of effective instruction, and the integration of technology resources in the learning environment. The Coordinator will be responsible for the management of Early Learning budgets, accreditation and management of early learning programs within the CRCSD. The Coordinator Early Learning is to work closely with teachers and other school staff including administration, Cedar Rapids Early Learning office staff, other instructional coaches, GWAEA staff, etc. to support teachers and assure that we deliver on the District Vision of Every Learner: Future Ready.

- Compensation to align with Teacher Master Contract
- Up to 10 additional days determined by the district at a rate of $340 a day in which individuals are delivering professional learning
Teacher Leadership Essential Disposition, Skills, and Requirements:
- Reflective, growth-oriented, seeks and acts upon feedback, and willingness to be coached
- Deepen and maintain own knowledge of equity principles and culturally responsible pedagogy to identify and address inequitable practices and engage teachers in using an equity lens to reflect on their practice
- Ability to train and coach New Art and Science of Teaching
- Knowledge or the willingness to become knowledgeable in the High Reliability Schools framework
- Knowledge and experience with research-based strategies within digital literacy
- Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Ability to design, present, and facilitate adult learning experiences preferred
- Experience with conducting professional learning activities
- Knowledge and understanding of the Iowa Core Standards and Standards-Based Grading
- Mentoring and coaching skills
- Knowledge of Professional Learning Community process and protocol
- Standard Teaching License with five years of teaching experience with at least three years of experience in the Cedar Rapids Community School District preferred (FTE release positions)
- Early Childhood or Elementary Education Teaching Certificate
Measures of Effectiveness and Professional Growth:
- All Teacher Leader positions will be evaluated annually in an effort to provide opportunities for the teacher to reflect upon his/her practice and peers and administration to provide feedback to enhance professional growth.
- CRCSD evaluation procedure will be used, including peer review
- Survey of peers in relation to job elements
- Personal reflection on professional growth in relation to essential job elements
- Meets or exceeds all performance targets
- Maintenance of required documentation
Essential Job Elements
- Provides direction and leadership for the program consistent with the District vision, mission, and focus
- Act as a leader that shares the responsibility of carrying out the goals of the Cedar Rapids Early Learning Program
- Writes annual/ biannual grants for the Early Learning Programs
- Facilitates the supports for the completion of NAEYC Accreditation and IQPPS compliance
- Coordinates with Early Learning Department and other District staff the registration of all preschool students including determining acceptance into the program
- Assist with CACFP
- Maintains budgets and reports for all programs and grants in Early Learning
- Serves as member of Family Connections Library and Reading Into Success Committee
- Attend Department of Education Early Childhood Leadership meetings and UEN Job-Alike meetings.
- Supports the implementation and needs of the Cedar Rapids Early Learning curriculum
- Serve as a team leader with the Cedar Rapids Early Learning department staff in order to support teachers in implementing quality preschool programming
- Support the building IDS and Principal as they collaborate using the PLC process
- Maintains records on Para qualification for Preschool
- Develop and sustain trusting, productive relationships with teachers, administrators, and other colleagues individually and in teams
- A commitment to supporting the growth of others and the belief that adult learning is essential to student learning.
- Basic level of knowledge and experience using district technology resources and willingness to learn other platforms as necessary
- Experience with conducting professional learning activities
- Knowledge of the Early Learning Standards
- Knowledge of Professional Learning Community process and protocol
- Broad knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Designing, presenting and facilitating adult learning experiences (preferred)
- Experience in working with students with challenging behaviors (preferred)
- Facilitates District Level Early Learning Steering Committee
- Understanding the role of the core curriculum, assessment, and the Iowa Early Learning Standards.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of district provided professional development initiatives
- Communicate and maintain positive relationships with district staff and community
- Ability to troubleshoot problems while maintaining a positive attitude
- Collaborate with teachers to meet needs of students and families
- Collaborate with instructional coaches to maximize resources
- Develop and distribute resources to assist staff with technology integration.(i.e. written documentation, screencasts)
- Develop and deliver professional development on the integration of technology resources in instruction (i.e.: interactive whiteboards, student response systems, Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, online resources, etc.).
- Support teachers new to the district with technology
- Maintain appropriate records and protect the confidentiality of data
- Meet the 8 Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria on a consistent basis
- Report to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis
- Complete other duties as assigned

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors when supervising students outside of the classroom.
