The Mission First Legal Aid Office (“Mission First”) anticipates offering foreclosure prevention services under a grant from the Mississippi Bar Foundation beginning January 1, 2025. Mission First is seeking to hire a Project Director/Staff Attorney to be responsible for providing services and managing the foreclosure prevention program with the aim of providing legal assistance and education to individuals and families at risk of foreclosure. This is a grant-funded position with a duration of January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025, with the possibility of an extension.
Job Responsibilities:
· Work with the Director of Legal Aid to provide direction for Mission First’s foreclosure prevention services.
· Provide legal assistance to clients facing foreclosure, including representation in court proceedings, negotiation with lenders, and advocacy for alternatives to foreclosure.
· Develop educational/marketing resources to benefit those at risk of foreclosure, and plan foreclosure prevention clinics in partnership with community organizations.
· Manage and ensure grant compliance and monitor data relevant to program effectiveness.
· Oversee and coordinate volunteers and law school students as needed.
· Other related tasks as directed by the Executive Director or Director of Legal Aid.
Qualifications:
· Commitment to the vision of Mission First.
· Licensed to practice law in Mississippi.
· Three years of experience related to foreclosure prevention, housing law, or related areas.
· Strong leadership and management skills.
· Experience working in a public service setting is preferred.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries to achieve goals.
· Willingness to serve.
