Legal Services Director oversees the activities of the organization's legal department. Provides legal advice, interpretation, and guidance to senior management and officers regarding contracts, state/federal regulatory requirements, intellectual property or trademark protection, and other business matters. Being a Legal Services Director reviews all information and prepares defense for any legal actions against the organization or advises on prosecuting lawsuits on behalf of the organization. Coordinates and reviews the work of internal or external legal staff. Additionally, Legal Services Director manages staff of attorneys. Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to top management. The Legal Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont hires Vermont college students each summer to provide them an opportunity for a corporate experience in their field or area of interest, while also bringing value to our organization. Our paid intern positions provide meaningful, interesting work in your area of study. Interns work 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday during the summer.Interns are encouraged to dive into our corporate culture of caring, participating in the various health and wellness initiatives of our STRIVE Program, or volunteering at a community event as a member of our Blue Crew. They are also given the opportunity to present their summer’s body of work to their colleagues and our executive team in August.
REMOTE WORK: Blue Cross is requiring all employees who live within a 50-mile radius of the office to work onsite on Wednesdays (unless an exemption is granted). Interns will be expected to follow this same requirement. Some interns may be required to work onsite more than one day a week, as per the need within their department.
