Librarian Assistant supports library circulation and processing operations and assists library users in locating materials and using library systems and tools. Reshelves returned books and materials and updates the library information system. Being a Librarian Assistant maintains user account and access data and processes special requests for materials. Performs routine cataloging processes. Additionally, Librarian Assistant assists with maintenance and update processes for library databases, software, and systems. May perform clerical tasks related to book purchasing and payments. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Librarian Assistant works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. The Assistant Librarian is responsible for maintaining the collection, following library policy, and maintaining a high quality collection of relevant print and electronic educational materials that support Keiser’s academic offerings. The Assistant Librarian is responsible for:
Provides circulation services associated with shelving library materials, placing reserves, automated circulation system, collecting and clearing fines
Provides assistance to the Library patrons and librarians
The Assistant Librarian must have the following:
A Masters Degree from an American Library Association accredited University.
2-3 years experience working with the business or social sciences fields is preferred; recent experience in library public services with an emphasis in reference services; demonstrated experience and/or knowledge in current information technology teaching experience; experience work with faculty developing assignments involving library research; recent experience in an academic library.
