Librarian - Higher Ed. jobs in Suffolk, VA

The Librarian shall meet the qualifications for that specialty and perform essentially the same functions, within the scope of acceptable for their technical professional discipline and standard, as those required by military and/or government service technical professionals of similar experience and in similar duty assignments.

• Maintain library collections of books, serial publications, and documents, audiovisual and other materials
• Assists groups and individuals in locating, and obtaining material.
• Furnish information on library activities, Facilities, rules and services.
• Explain and assists in use of reference sources, such as card or book catalog, or book and periodical indexes to locate information.
• Issue and receive material for circulation or use in library.
• Assemble and arrange display of books and other library materials
• Maintain reference and circulation materials.
• Answer correspondence on special reference subjects, may compile list of library materials according to subjects or interests, and may select, catalog, and classify materials.

• Requires a Master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences.
• Requires two years’ experience in a library or related field, computer literacy, and experience in online, Web, and database searching.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
