    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Director of Library Services provides leadership for all aspects of library services, resources, and programs in support of student learning, academic programs, and faculty teaching. The Director develops and maintains positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff at Community College of Aurora, as well as with the Colorado Community College System, and other stakeholders.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:


    • Ensure effective library operations in the Teaching and Learning Transformation Hub in physical and digital spaces.
    • Manage department budget and efficiently allocate resources.
    • Oversee hiring, training, and supervision of library and Hub staff.
    • Coordinate with the Director of Academic Learning Services on processes, use of spaces, technology, budgets, student and faculty access to services, messaging and virtual content, cross training, hiring and training of front desk personnel, and coverage in the Hub at various campuses.
    • Support the training and professional development of library personnel and support staff to meet business needs appropriately.
    • Develop and execute strategic plan for library services in the Hub that is in alignment with the college mission and vision, the college strategic plan and the comprehensive academic plan.
    • Establish effective implementation of consortia commitments that align with the vision and mission of the college and Colorado Community College System requirements.
    • Direct innovative and equitable programming and customer-oriented services that support Community College of Aurora's diverse student population.
    • Assure that the collection and services meet the curricular and research needs of students in transfer, career and technical education, workforce, ESL, and adult education programs.
    • Stay current on trends, legislation, best practices, and grants in areas of responsibility.
    • Use data driven decision making and report on progress of Library services.
    • Provide research and information literacy assistance, appointments, and instruction as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.



    Required Qualifications:
    • Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution
    • At least 3 years of professional library experience in an academic setting

    Preferred Qualifications:


    • Knowledge of academic library reference and research methods, including the uses of electronic information sources;
    • Ability to support diverse populations and wide-ranging needs among students, faculty, and the community;
    • Bilingual in Spanish and English
    • Ability to devise research strategies and to prepare subject guides, digital learning objects and other materials to support the information needs of faculty and students;
    • Ability to employ systematic planning and assessment techniques;
    • Experience managing and supervising a library staff;
    • Experience managing a budget and inventory;
    • Experience with teaching Information Literacy;
    • Understanding of Fair Use Laws and Copyright;
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.



    Supplemental Information

    Salary Range: $75,000.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
