Library Services Director - Higher Ed. jobs in Tennessee

The Assistant Director is responsible for administrative work involving a broad range of public library functions. They shall act as Director in the Director's absence and supervise all library staff. The assistant director should use creative ideas and energy to provide the service and programming expected in a small community. The pay rate is $10 an hour with a maximum of 32 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, four-year degree preferred.
• Knowledge of computers: Microsoft Office, Google Suite, etc.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Maintain a professional standing (both online and in person) within the community.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Performs and supervises library functions.
• Provides technical assistance to the public and staff.
• Assists patrons in selection and location of services and books.
• Fills in at circulation desk as required.
• Supervises all circulation desk duties including, but not limited to, issuing/receiving/reserving materials, processing interlibrary loans, issuing library cards, computing/collecting fees and payments, and inspecting returned materials for damage.
• Reviews records, compiles reports on overdue materials, and notifies borrowers.
• Supervises the use of the meeting room and other library facilities for public library-sponsored programs.
• May represent the library at professional meetings.
• Assists in creating and coordinating library programs with community needs.
• Create or supervise appropriate exhibits and displays.
• Keeps abreast of developments in the field of library science.
• Travel as needed for training, staff support, or filling in for absent staff, auditor required deposits, or as need arises.
• Records necessary statistics.
• Maintains and oversees library website and social media platforms.
• Assists in collection development by recommending materials for deletion or purchase.
• Performs all other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Director.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 32 per week
