The Public Library is looking for an associate at the Erna Fergusson branch to work directly with library customers to provide library cards, check-in and check-out items and answer account questions. You will also help customers locate materials and answer a wide variety of questions relating to the library’s public computers and online resources.

We’re looking for candidates who can be pleasant and helpful in a customer service oriented environment. Many of our processes require close attention to detail and the ability to multi-task. You will be an important part of our team and as such must be reliable and punctual. This position is 40 hours per week. Monday and Tuesday 9:15-6:15, Wednesday and Thursday 11:15-8:15, Friday 9:15-6:15.

Important: This is a Library Associate position. Associates are contracted through a staffing agency. This is not a City of Albuquerque position. Associates are allowed to work an assignment for two years and may then reapply after a 90 day furlough. Renewed assignment is not guaranteed.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Preference will be given to anyone with previous experience working in a library, bookstore or in a customer service position.

Essential functions will require standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, climbing, pushing carts one-hundred (100) pounds or greater, and lifting/carrying cartons forty (40) pounds or greater.

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Evening shift
• Weekends as needed
