Library Services Director jobs in Arkansas
Library Services Director supervises, maintains, and enhances policies and procedures for a library. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Library Services Director selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Requires master's of library and information science from an ALA-accredited school. Additionally, Library Services Director typically reports to top management. The Library Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Library Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Minimum requirements are:
- Completion of studies earning a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science from a 4-year institution of higher education
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with the public
- Extensive knowledge of computers and computer programs
- Good managerial skills
- Adept at long-range planning and budgeting
Knowledge of Spanish and/or library experience is highly desirable.
- Starting salary – $34,500 to $40,020 based on education and experience.

- FT-35 hrs per week/one-week vacation after one year of employment, additional days added in succeeding years of employment.
