HARTZ Search invites you to explore an exciting opportunity with our client, Lake Charles Memorial Health System, for the Director of Perioperative Services. The Director of Perioperative Services will report directly to the Executive Director of Perioperative Services. This individual is responsible for providing leadership and has 24-hour responsibility and accountability for the successful operation of the department. The Director of Perioperative Services will participate as a member of the hospital's management team in planning, policy formulation, and administrative decision-making with particular reference to the department's role, functions, and operation. They will act as a steward of the hospital's mission and service excellence program. This individual will collaborate with the multi-specialty team regarding add-on cases, as well as changes to the Block Schedule, while having the ability to collaborate effectively with Surgeons, Anesthesia, Sterile Processing, Same Day, and PAT. The selected candidate must also instill structure within surgical services and the sterile processing department. The ideal candidate will have experience running a busy OR, including making staff assignments with the assistance of the Nurse Manager and proactive management of reducing overtime if possible. The Director of Perioperative Services must be able to influence positive changes for managers and staff to become more efficient. He/ she can speak and negotiate with agencies to source temp & perm candidates to fill open positions. Must be hands-on in providing real-time training to new hires and orienting travelers to the LCMH way. Responsible for influencing a positive culture, identifying those who are not onboard, counseling offenders, and making recommendations to create a healthy culture in the workplace. The Director will also guide the Nurse Manager to influence positive influence within the department and other departments they collaborate with.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree Required and Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience running a busy hospital operating room, required.
- Nurse Managers, Directors of Nursing, and Assistant Vice Presidents must have 3 years of clinical experience as Charge Nurse, Unit Coordinator, etc.
- Technical Skills as appropriate to the position.
- Discipline-specific licensure.
- Ability to read, write, and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate with patients, family, peers, and medical personnel; Basic math skills.
- Requires emotional stability and resilience; Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight; Exhibits organizational and leadership ability.
