Library Services Director supervises, maintains, and enhances policies and procedures for a library. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Library Services Director selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Requires master's of library and information science from an ALA-accredited school. Additionally, Library Services Director typically reports to top management. The Library Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Erving Public Library is seeking a customer service oriented, flexible, resourceful, technology enthusiast, and skilled communicator to be our new Assistant Director. This is a permanent, year-round, benefitted, 28-hour per week position with a regular schedule of Sunday and Monday 9:15am-4:15pm, Tuesday and Wednesday 11:15am-6:15pm. The starting rate is $27.25 per hour.
The Assistant Director is responsible for the oversight of circulation, adult services, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) and makerspace programming, grant administration, and other tasks in support of daily department operations of the library.
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to administration, customer service, information technology or libraries; minimum of three years of experience in libraries; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
