Requires master's of library and information science from an ALA-accredited school. Additionally, Library Services Director typically reports to top management. The Library Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Library Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Children’s Services Associate
Be part of a well-supported and loved Children’s Services Department reinventing itself to fit today’s world. Ideal applicants should understand public libraries and enjoy working with children and families. A knowledge of child development and children’s literature is highly desired. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to successfully meet deadlines is essential.
DUTIES:
The Children’s Associate is responsible for assisting children and families to use the library, planning and conducting Children’s Services programs, and assisting in maintaining the Children’s Services collections, which include books, activity bags, and more. Evening and weekend hours will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Great people skills and enthusiasm for working with children and families. An even-keeled temperament and skill in handling the unexpected. Ability to work both as part of a team and independently. Knowledge of child development, children’s literature, and libraries. Willingness to learn how to create virtual storytimes and other technical aspects of children’s programming. Knowledge of early literacy and learning is a plus. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
