Library Services Director supervises, maintains, and enhances policies and procedures for a library. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Library Services Director selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Requires master's of library and information science from an ALA-accredited school. Additionally, Library Services Director typically reports to top management. The Library Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Library Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. A successful candidate must have availability and flexibility in the daytime, evenings and a regular weekend rotation. Compensation is $9.75 an hour, no benefits are included in this position.
Primary Function: Performs a variety of library circulation and clerical procedures with a heavy concentration of public contact. Strong customer service skills and a love of reading are musts!
