Library Services Manager manages the daily planning, staff, and operations for the acquisition, classification, maintenance, licensing, and distribution of print and digital materials to meet the information needs of library users. Coordinates process to research, review, identify and procure new materials to develop the library's collection. Being a Library Services Manager performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Develops and oversees support, service, and technology resources to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, Library Services Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Library Services Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Library Services Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. CUSTODIAN LIBRARY

  • The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain the Library physical plant. This includes oversight and maintenance of the equipment that is necessary for the operation of the building. This position involves responsibility for cleaning and maintenance work performed in accordance with established routines with specific instructions provided on non-routine tasks. Work is subject to inspection in progress and upon completion. Hours are from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

    • Performs building maintenance tasks and makes minor repairs to the building, furnishings, and equipment.
    • Operates, monitors, and maintains the mechanical heating and air conditioning equipment, the safety and water system control panel, and notifies the Director of malfunctions or unusual operating conditions
    • May disconnect, move, and reconnect computers when necessary, or add computer components
    • Serves as safety officer for the Library
    • May serve on the City's Emergency Preparedness committee
    • Takes inventory of all library furnishings, machines, and custodial equipment
    • Orders and tracks custodial supplies
    • Sweeps, vacuums, mops, and polishes floors using hand tools and power equipment
    • Washes walls, windows, and woodwork
    • Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies
    • May operate a light truck or car to obtain supplies, pick up and deliver mail, etc.
    • Installs or removes shelving, sets up tables and chairs, and arranges furniture in preparation for meetings or other special events
    • Mows grass using power equipment. Cultivates flower beds, collects trash, shovels snow, and maintains building exterior in a clean, orderly fashion
    • Supervises various volunteers
    • Puts up and takes down seasonal decorations
    • Performs minor repairs on library machinery and equipment
    • Other duties as assigned
    • Two (2) years vocational or technical training in mechanical maintenance, or the equivalent. 
    • Experience in the use and care of custodial equipment and cleaning methods is preferred. 
    • Must have a valid driver's license. 
    • Must be in good physical condition, as job requires some heavy lifting. 
    • Must be able to communicate in an acceptable manner with staff and public.

    Physical Requirements

    • Moderately heavy work involving frequent standing, walking, balancing, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling and squatting; pushing, pulling and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.

    Working Conditions

    • Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services.   
    • Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Clovis policies.   
    • Essential duties are predominantly performed indoors with exposure to all types of weather conditions.  
    • Employee is exposed to airborne particles, potentially toxic and/or caustic chemicals. Use of safety shoes, glasses and other equipment is required
