Library Associate – Youth Services and Program Assistant

The Burnham Memorial Library is seeking a full-time, well-read professional with a customer service mindset, and a love for working with youth of all ages, to join its team. The Library Associate provides a variety of patron services at the youth circulation desk. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, readers’ advisory services, patron registration, check-out of materials, fee collection and reference services. Provides general assistance with research, clerical and technical support. Plans, implements, tracks and assesses youth programs. Assists with outreach by fostering partnerships and visiting local childcare providers and schools.
Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field-of-study, or library certification, preferred. A combination of education and work experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired will be considered. Good technical skills, including web and database searches, experience with an Integrated Library system (ILS) and proficiency with MS Office Suite or G Suite. Use of Canva or related graphic design tool desirable.
