Library Services Manager manages the daily planning, staff, and operations for the acquisition, classification, maintenance, licensing, and distribution of print and digital materials to meet the information needs of library users. Coordinates process to research, review, identify and procure new materials to develop the library's collection. Being a Library Services Manager performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Develops and oversees support, service, and technology resources to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, Library Services Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Library Services Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Library Services Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Overview:
    The Riter C. Hulsey Public Library is seeking a highly organized and customer service-oriented individual to join our team as a Library Manager. As the Library Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the library, ensuring smooth functioning and excellent service to library patrons.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist the Library Director in the administration and operation of the Library Department.
    • Implement and evaluate approved policies and procedures.
    • Make policy and procedure recommendations to the Library Director.
    • Provide administrative support to the Library Director.
    • Perform supervisory and personnel duties, including interviewing, hiring, preparing and administering performance evaluations, scheduling, and training subordinate staff.
    • Respond to needs/problems of library patrons as requested or required.
    • Administer and coordinate maintenance of library facilities.
    • Assist in developing long-range plans for facility needs.
    • Act as Lead Supervisor in the Library Director’s absence.
    • Provide information and reference services to the general public.
    • Assist with the implementation and evaluation of library programming and other library services for children, teens, and adults as necessary.
    • Serves as liaison to the Library Advisory Board and the Friends of the Hulsey Public Library in the absence of the Library Director.
    • Assist the Library Director in the development of reports and presentations to City Management, City Council and other community groups relating to library services.
    • Cultivate community networks and seek input from the community relating to library services.
    • Assist with the purchase, installation, and maintenance of technology and equipment, and assist with training library staff in the use of new technology and equipment.
    • Identify and pursue alternate funding sources, such as donations and grants for library programs, services, collections, and other enhancements not identified in the City budget.
    • Collaborate with other departments to support city-wide initiatives.
    • Maintain an understanding of best practices, as well as current and emerging trends in library operations including, but not limited to, customer service, technology, marketing, and programming.
    • Represent the library at professional meetings, conferences, and seminars, and actively participate in professional committees.
    • Perform related duties, as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Thorough knowledge of practices, principles and techniques of modern public library operation.
    • Knowledge of State, Federal and Local regulations, rules and guidelines governing public libraries.
    • Excellent organizational, administrative, supervisory, communication, technical and interpersonal skills, and a proven commitment to service and teamwork.
    • Experience coordinating and managing Library resources and services in an online environment.
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher), Google G-Suite as well as social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram).
    • Experience with Canva.com preferred.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to transport oneself to work-related meetings.

    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Library Manager should be very familiar with the day-to-day operation of a modern public library facility with at least 5 years of professional experience in a public library setting, and at least 2 years of supervisory experience. Experience with Polaris ILS preferred.

    Must be willing to stay current with public library trends and innovations through attendance at conferences and workshops.
