Library Services Manager manages the daily planning, staff, and operations for the acquisition, classification, maintenance, licensing, and distribution of print and digital materials to meet the information needs of library users. Coordinates process to research, review, identify and procure new materials to develop the library's collection. Being a Library Services Manager performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Develops and oversees support, service, and technology resources to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, Library Services Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Library Services Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Library Services Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Responsibilities:
- Assist library patrons with locating and checking out books, magazines, and other materials
- Provide guidance and support to patrons in using library resources and services
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of library materials and transactions
- Conduct research and assist patrons in finding relevant information
- Troubleshoot software issues and provide technical support for library computers and equipment
- Assist with cataloging and organizing library materials
- File returned materials in their appropriate locations
- Communicate effectively with library staff and patrons
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in software troubleshooting, data collection, and integrated library systems
- Excellent data entry skills with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to conduct research using various resources, both print and digital
- Familiarity with cataloging principles and practices
- Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to file materials accurately
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
