  • Job Summary

    The IT Asset Management (ITAM) Consultant’s role is to work with SHI’s customers to assist them in understanding their Software and Hardware Environment. The ITAM Consultant will join the ITAM team and will utilize SHI’s best practice procedures, tools and people to assist our customers in controlling their software and hardware costs, as well as the associated legal and financial risks.

     

    The position reports to the Senior ITAM Services Manager/ITAM Named Accounts Manager. The ITAM Consultant is a remote position; however, may be required to report into an SHI office location in either Milton Keynes (UK), Paris (France), Somerset, New Jersey or Austin, Texas (US) as required for business needs as determined by SHI management.

    Responsibilities

    • Have excellent ITAM knowledge.
    • Participate in customer communications as well as work being produced across the entire life cycle of an ITAM project.  This includes producing, as well as presenting, intermediate, and final results and assuring projects are conducted and closed to the satisfaction of all parties.   
    • Engage Sales, Licensing, Customers, and Software Manufacturers to help customers collect, organize, and manage licensed software assets. 
    • Interact with SHI Licensing Executives and Software Manufacturers to understand licensing aspects. 
    • Participate and lead peer reviews to oversee the ITAM Analyst, as well as secondary review of the ITAM Administrator activities, while ensuring the process and quality standards are maintained. 
    • Quality check analysis of customers’ contract and purchase information by the ITAM Analyst and/or ITAM Administrator to maintain an accurate and complete summary of licenses.
    • Oversee the correct application of license rules to hardware and software inventory data to ensure it accurately reflects contractual entitlement.
    • Compare customers’ contractual entitlements against their utilization to assess gaps and surpluses in licensing, as well as offer consulting services as to the best practices to optimize their position to avoid unnecessary costs.
    • Offer consulting services as to the areas of convergence between software and hardware asset management, as well as best practices in how to concurrently manage both.
    • Advise customers as to the most cost-effective infrastructure configurations to deploy their software on, comparing both on-site datacenters and several types of cloud platforms.
    • Define the entitlement and inventory scope of customer ITAM data, to ensure entitlement and inventory information are properly aligned and consistent. 
    • Ensure that all ITAM projects are conducted professionally, ethically, and in a manner consistent with the SHI standard. 
    • Keeps up to date with industry trends and new ITAM services requirements.
    • Executes all ITAM Consultant tasks according to the project plans of all assigned customer engagements. 
    • Adhere and work to the internal process standards as defined and updated by management. 
    • Provide thought leadership.
    • Define and drive new initiatives and projects.
    • Collect and manage ITAM-related information from SHI, customers, and software manufacturers. 
    • Regularly ensure ITAM customers’ entitlement and contract data is correctly gathered and maintained (Entitlement Data). 
    • Oversee analysis of purchase records and other entitlement information (including contracts, EULAs, EAs, PURs etc.). 
    • Research and understand Product Use Rights, license allowances, and contractual entitlements for software products and manufacturers (with a specialty in one or more manufacturers). 
    • Monitor that the Load/Import/Enter Entitlement Data into ITAM Technology has been performed according to standards and accurately reflects owned software licenses. 
    • Assist the ITAM System Technicians and Engineers in the collection, cleanse/normalization, and management of software discovery and inventory information in order to ensure all licensing relevant data points are being collected. 
    • Participate alongside ITAM Solutions Consultants in pre-sales activities to advise customers and inform of SHI’s capabilities.
    • Attend and support SHI events and vendor shows.
    • Design specialist blog articles, webinars, industry events presentations
    • Coordinate with project management team to communicate project status and ensure project milestones are being met.
    • Other activities, as defined by ITAM management, to successfully deliver ITAM consulting activities to customers.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience within the IT Asset Management field.

    Unique Requirements

    • It is expected that this role will require occasional travel both nationally and internationally (30%)

    Additional Information

    • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $70,000 - $120,000 which includes a base salary. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
