Job Title: Safety Specialist
Reports to: Safety Manager
Department: Safety
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible to learn all safety functions necessary to support Graywolf Construction at the assigned jobsite. Assists the Project Safety Manager in all safety related matters.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Work as a leader in the safety department, functioning under the authority and direction of the Project Safety Manager

Set exemplary standards of ethics and stewardship of the company’s resources, support company philosophy, practice and goals, function as a team player and help to maintain good communication with the Safety Department

Learn to identify workplace safety hazards and take necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize them

Observe the implement as directed the Zero Injury System of Safety Excellence

Learn basic concepts of subcontractor safety management

Learn basic construction techniques such as rigging, excavation, welding, electrical circuits, mechanical piping, steel erection, and concrete foundations

Draft Lessons Learned and Safety Alert documents to be shared throughout the organization

Conduct regular safety checks in the field

Attend the weekly general safety meetings, and daily operations coordination meetings

Conduct Safety Checks as directed by the Project Safety Manager

Learn about safety program documentation, OSHA record keeping, document posting, trenching and scaffold permitting, and regulatory compliance documentation

Participate in site inspections and testing as necessary for required permits, including confined space, hot work, rigging and trenching

Maintain jobsite first aid and emergency response supplies

Learn basic emergency preparedness requirements on a large construction project

Learn the critical aspects of injury case management as it relates to OSHA Recordkeeping
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 3 years of industrial construction experience

Obtain OSHA 30 certification within 6 months of hire

A high school diploma or GED is required
