Life Underwriting Director directs and oversees the life insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Responsible for ensuring integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Life Underwriting Director provides coaching to underwriters and assists on more complex applications. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Additionally, Life Underwriting Director typically requires Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) certification or Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation. Typically reports to top management. The Life Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Life Coach promotes continued student engagement in the Excel Center and serves as a student advocate. Each coach carries a caseload of 65-80 students. The Life Coach guides student learning and productivity by life coaches building relationships with students and providing resources to remove barriers to their educational progress. Life coaches triage their caseloads by managing their core duties while also being reactive to student crises as they arise. The position works with all academic teams and the College and Career Readiness Specialist in meeting educational goals and adhering to the Indiana Academic Standards.
