Light Assembler assembles fabricated parts of small or light subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Light Assembler identifies and sorts units that fail quality standards. May disassemble units to repair or refit parts as necessary. Additionally, Light Assembler operates hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing assembly line equipment to assemble units. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Light Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     Light Duty Mechanic - Kuparuk Field Support Services - Light Duty Shop

     

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Light Duty Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light construction vehicles and equipment. This position may supervise apprentice workers engaged in vehicle and equipment repair work.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Inspect light and medium duty vehicles and equipment to diagnose malfunctions with gas and diesel power.
    • Repair light construction vehicles and equipment such as large volume pumps and compressors, passenger vans, light duty pickup trucks, welding trucks, medium duty service trucks, Tucker Sno-Cats, and other auxiliary equipment.
    • Should have strong diagnostic, trouble shooting ability with use of scanning tool and computer laptop.
    • Adjust, repair, and replace engines, fuel systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, breaks, suspension, steering, and transmissions.
    • Disassemble and assemble vehicles and equipment parts using hoists, hand tools, pneumatic and electric tools, and instruments.
    • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including lubrication and oil changes in accordance with maintenance schedules.
    • Operate vehicles and equipment to diagnose and ensure operating efficiency.
    • Prepare and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
    • Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records that meet OEM warranty requirements.
    • Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.
    • Mentor apprentice workers engaged in light vehicle and equipment repair work.
    • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
    • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience required.
    • ASE Certification or OEM Technician Certification required.
    • Valid driver’s license required.
    • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience in the oil and gas industry and in the arctic environment preferred.
    • GM and Ford Dodge Ram Light and Medium Duty repair and Maintenance experience preferred.
    • Fleet Focus fleet management system experience preferred.

    WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

    While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you.  All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms.   Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift.  Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp.  Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc.  Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.
