Line Cook prepares menu dishes following established recipes and using designated ingredients that meet production and quality standards as part of a cooking line. Follows all portion and presentation specifications and proper preparation methods. Being a Line Cook sets up and stocks workstation with all necessary supplies. Coordinates with other line cooks to ensure meals are delivered consistently and on time. Additionally, Line Cook is responsible for operating and maintaining a single workstation. May prepare sauces or garnishes. Follows all applicable guidelines and regulations for food handling and safety. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a sous chef or executive chef. The Line Cook works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.     Amendment XXI serves elevated pub food, line cook works under the supervision of a Manager &/or Lead cook. Line cooks basic duty includes the preparation of food as ordered by the guests. They are involved in the actual production of food and plating it. Depending on what specifically the manager/lead puts you in charge of on the line you need to prepare those specific food items as and when they are ordered by the incoming guests. Line cook is involved in controlling the food costs, maintaining the standards with respect to the quality of food that is being served, ensuring cleanliness, etc., and may perform other duties related to preparation of food like final plate preparation that may include plating, garnishing, etc.

    Key Responsibilities

    Adheres to all food safety regulations with respect to Benton Franklin Health District Rules and Regulations.

    • Set up a station according to the guidelines provided by the Manager or Lead
    • To prepare high quality food items by following the recipes as well as the presentation guidelines in such way that it should surpass the expectations of the guests
    • To be involved in coordination of the food orders so that it is delivered on time and in an efficient manner
    • To make sure that the special requests made by the guests are being delivered by adhering to the safety and quality standards
    • To stock and maintain the food stations.
    • To make sure that all the food that is being sent out is inspected properly before it moves out of the kitchen
    • Line cook ensures that he/she is updated with knowledge of menu and of every food product that is being served in the restaurant.
    • They make sure that all the sanitation standards are being followed strictly from time to time.
    • They are responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the work area before and after the shift.
    • Line cook may need to do some additional duties as requested by the manager or lead and may be required to do cleaning of the surfaces, sweeping of the floors, covering, and storing the food material, etc.
    • They are involved in every aspect of cooking, right from setting up the workstation, bringing in the food items and arranging the utensils to cutting of vegetables, meat, etc., and ensuring that quality food is served within no time with absolutely no compromise on taste and quality of food that is being served. The presentation skills and sanitation standards are equally important.
    • At the end of the shift, makes sure that all workstations are cleaned, and that the unused food is wrapped and stored properly.

    • They should be a team player who should be physically fit, as you need to stand for long periods.
    • Ability to multitask, remain calm, and prioritize in a highly visible, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment.

    • Highly organized, with relentless attention to detail and high standards that demand the delivery of consistently quality food to customers in a timely manner.
