Lineman constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman works under moderate supervision.     About the Role:

    The role of Lineman is responsible for encompassing the installation, repair, and upkeep of poles, cables, and conduits. They are tasked with installing aerial and buried cables, along with the necessary hardware, to construct various projects. Additionally, they handle fiber optic installations in both above ground and underground infrastructures, such as manholes. The Lineman also supports construction crews as necessary to ensure the successful completion of projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Daily, strive to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the standards, materials, techniques, and equipment employed in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic OSP/ISP facilities.
    • Ensure accurate completion of daily production forms, project activity reports, and all other relevant documentation related to work assignments.
    • Operate vehicles and aerial lift equipment, using appropriate safety gear, once adequately trained, and always adhere to safety and traffic regulations.
    • Engage in various construction operations that involve substantial physical labor and lifting.
    • Carry out housekeeping duties for assigned vehicles and tools.
    • Adhere to OSHA, NESC, and Mainstream safety regulations and precautions while fulfilling assigned tasks.
    • Aid in maintaining appropriate inventory levels on the vehicle, based on the work assignment.
    • Install equipment and dress poles according to customer specifications, utilizing a variety of small hand and power tools.
    • Utilize a chain hoist to apply tension to cables and guy wires.
    • Perform basic daily maintenance on the company vehicle, including fluid checks, cleanliness, and vehicle organization.
    • Assist in directing traffic flow in compliance with local and state DOT guidelines.
    • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

    Key Qualifications:

    • HSD, or equivalent education, is required.
    • Lineman Certification, Preferred
    • 1-3 years’ experience working as an Aerial Lineman or similar role.
    • Valid Drivers’ Licenses, required.
    • Must have an understanding of basic construction principles.
    • Must have ability to follow directions.
    • Must have the ability to operate manual and mechanical equipment necessary to complete jobs.
    • Must have or be able to obtain knowledge of “safety systems” associated with aerial cable including set-up and emergency procedures.

    Additional Notes:

    • This position may require being on-call. Employees will respond to emergency calls between the hours of 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. This position may require weekend work, night work, and/or overnight travel.
    • This position does require travel to different counties throughout Indiana.
    • This position is performed in the field both outdoor and indoor conditions daily.
