Description

Primary responsibilities are to accurately identify patients, collect high quality blood specimens on inpatients, and deliver samples to the laboratory in a timely fashion. In addition, position is responsible for in-laboratory functions such as specimen receiving and accessioning, specimen distribution, send-outs, and handling telephone inquiries.

Required qualifications:

• Coursework/Training: Continuing Education Units; 6 units every 2 years.

• Coursework/Training: Phlebotomy courses from a California State approved School of Phlebotomy (see State Phlebotomy regulations).

• California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I License upon hire or

• California Certified Phlebotomy Technician II License upon hire.

Preferred qualifications:

• Associate's Degree

• 2 years experience as a Phlebotomist/CPT in an acute care (i.e., hospital) laboratory setting.
