Job Summary:
The Specimen Processor plays a crucial role in the proper handling and processing of incoming laboratory specimens for clinical diagnostics testing. This position involves specimen accessioning, labeling, sorting, and entry into information systems, as well as other related tasks such as manual aliquoting and specimen archiving. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and excellent communication skills. Availability for rotating weekends and holidays is required.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform specimen accessioning and processing tasks, including labeling, sorting, and basic requisition entry in information systems.

Load/unload specimens in centrifuge and distribute stat specimens into the laboratory.

Perform manual aliquoting of specimens as needed.

Archive, retrieve, and dispose of specimens according to laboratory protocols.

Prepare and order specimens to be sent for reference testing as required.

Answer and direct phone calls to appropriate departments, redirecting customer service inquiries as necessary.
Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Associate degree in a science discipline preferred.
Experience:

0-1 year of laboratory experience preferred.

Basic knowledge common to a healthcare environment.
