As a Medical Fee Review Hearing Officer, you will be reviewing appeals, scheduling and conducting de novo hearings, examining witnesses, as well as receiving and analyzing testimony and exhibits. Work may also include ruling on evidence and administrative procedure and issuing written decisions and orders that are subject to appeal to Commonwealth Court. You will have the opportunity to supervise clerical or administrative support staff, issue subpoenas, and perform legal research. This position will require you to maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of medical billing and coding practices. Additional responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
- Adjudicating appeals of medical fee issues
- Reviewing hearing transcripts, exhibits, and briefs
- Clarifying issues raised by Fee Review hearing request
- Determining the credibility of witnesses and documentary evidence
- Examining due process rights of parties
- Interpreting the Court’s rulings
- Reviewing stipulations, briefs, and proposed findings of facts
- Reviewing and responding to requests from litigants for appeal continuance or withdrawal

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of professional experience in investigative, adjudicative, or legal work analyzing and interpreting information to issue decisions, findings of fact, or determinations of eligibility, or to engage in litigation, and a bachelor’s degree; or
- Graduation with a law degree from a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
