Logistics Manager manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Manager oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Manager ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Logistics Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Logistics Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Summary
    As an Operations Dock Manager, you are responsible for managing, coaching, developing, and training a team of supervisors, leads, and associates to meet or exceed established internal key performance indicators (KPIs) along with service level agreements (SLAs) associated with inbound/outbound dock flow. Your daily responsibilities will include priority setting, maintaining work standards, and implementing methods to enhance workflow by identifying issues and expediting solutions.
    Responsibilities
    • Lead the day-to-day dock operations in a fast paced, e-commerce distribution environment to ensure that all internal/external operational needs are met with effective utilization of labor, space, and equipment for designated clients in accordance with the agreed upon SLA’s with a high level of quality, accuracy, and fiscal responsibility
    • Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities; including, but not limited to: Inbound, receiving, shipping, inventory control, and sortation, to ensure order accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments
    • Collaborate with the General Manager and cross-functional teams on productivity planning, operations, and staffing needs; with a main partner being the Transportation team 
    • Understand customer expectations and effectively communicate these expectations to your team
    • Assist in establishing work schedules and ensure employee hours, attendance, productivity, and quality are being properly documented
    • Actively participate in warehouse planning and town hall meetings; conduct daily stand-up shift meetings with associates to communicate daily expectations, important updates, and any upcoming schedule changes
    • Develop a highly productive and engaged team by actively participating in recruitment, selection, training, development, performance management, and any reward or recognition programs
    • While prioritizing a clean, neat, safe, and orderly work area and adherence to all safety policies, regularly reinforce the efficient and safe operation of material handling equipment with associates
    • Conduct operations in a manner that promotes warehouse security and employee safety in accordance with OSHA and other appropriate policies/procedures
    • Understand applicable labor laws and work to maintain a positive workplace culture with all employees
    • Maintain a working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to the work area, assist in establishing standard work procedures (SOPs) as needed, and ensure procedures are properly and consistently implemented
    • Prepare and analyze daily, weekly productivity reports and address any issues with the team in a timely manner
    • Troubleshoot day-to-day problems, identify long-term resolutions, and implement opportunities for continuous process improvement
    • Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports and regularly manage team performance and development
    • Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
    • 3-5 years previous management experience-preferably in ecommerce retail fulfillment, transportation, third party logistics (3PL), or other supply chain environment
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Possess solid judgment, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
    • Schedule flexibility, including nights and weekends
    • Ability to build a cohesive team that exemplifies our core values of “Quiet is FAST”
    • Demonstrated leadership skills to influence, implement, resolve conflict, and manage change within the department
    • Detail oriented and able to work multiple tasks at one time while regularly communicating progress
    • Excellent time management skills with the ability to adjust on the fly in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
    • Must be technologically savvy; experience with an Order Management System, Warehouse Management System, or Labor Management System is highly desirable
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience preferred
