The Retail Loss Prevention Officer I enforces security measures and procedures. Monitors premises to reduce losses due to theft and fraud. Being a Retail Loss Prevention Officer I ensures employees understand and follow policies and procedures for loss prevention and cash handling. Observes areas that are vulnerable to theft and identifies occurrences. In addition, Retail Loss Prevention Officer I collects, records, and maintains loss and incident data in appropriate format and system. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. Being a Retail Loss Prevention Officer I works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.
