Casella Construction is seeking to hire a Shop Supervisor of Fleet and Maintenance to join our team in Pittsford, Vermont. The Shop Supervisor is the first line leader of our mechanics & fabricators across the company. Leadership, machine repair expertise, and a can-do attitude are key to this position. The Shop Supervisor of Fleet and Maintenance is responsible for coordinating the workflow in the maintenance area by providing cohesive multi-shift support of company needs based on priorities set by the Director of Fleet & Maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses and directs work assignments of fabricators, mechanics and technicians.
- Collaborates with the Director of Fleet and Maintenance to facilitate the proper training and development of employees.
- Responsible for the safe execution of day-to-day shop operations and overall cleanliness of the shop.
- Oversees the oil sampling program, reviews, and closes out completed work orders.
- In addition to leading employees in the maintenance department, the Supervisor of Fleet and Maintenance oversees the proper maintenance programs and repairs on all major assets through a combination of internal mechanics, 3rd party vendors, and warranty work.
- Oversees the shop specialty tools, ensuring the right tools are used to properly maintain the fleet.
- The best candidate is a safety-first leader who has in-depth experience troubleshooting and repairing Conveyors, Crushers, Dozers, Excavators, Feller Bunchers, Graders, Loaders, Rollers, Screens, Skid Steers, Sweepers, Tractor Trailers, Trailers, and Haul Trucks.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least three years of experience in a supervisory maintenance role.
- Five years or more of experience in a fleet maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of diesel, gas, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and emission systems.
- Experience with and knowledge of MSHA and OSHA 511 30-hour course regulations.
- OSHA Hazardous Waste (HAZWOPER) course.
- Experience with and knowledge of FMCSA DOT regulations.
- Certified AEMP preferred, or other trucking industry certification desired.

- Must have in-depth experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel, gas, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical & emission systems.

- Looking for keen understanding and proficiency with computer maintenance management systems to input work orders, place labor hours against work orders, inventory, and assets.
- Role requires exceptional mechanical aptitude, a customer service mindset, and attention to detail.
- In this role the primary focus everyday will be to support the maintenance team and ensure they are working on the correct machines at the right time based on company priorities while enabling them to spend the maximum amount of time conducting repairs and services on equipment.
Areas of Ownership:
- Day-to-day shop supervision and execution.
- Ability to generate, then close out completed work orders.
- Managing timecards and overtime of maintenance team.
- Quality control of completed work orders (before asset is released to Operations).
- Ownership of Oil Sampling Program.
- Repair requests management (input & follow through).
- Building and managing daily/weekly/monthly B2W execution schedules.
- PM program execution.
- 3rd Party Service Management.
- Asset Warranty Management.
- Shop specialty tool and technology manager.
