Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to determine the precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels of the finished product. Being a Machinist selects and operates the appropriate tools to cut, shape, or finish metal, plastic, or composite material. Sets up, services, and maintains equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation. Additionally, Machinist utilizes precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy and quality of machined parts. Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units as necessary. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Machinist works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. CNC Machinist will work on both CNC Mill and CNC Lathe work centers setting up and proving programs. The position is responsible for their assigned machine(s) from setup to operation to produce parts and tools from metal, plastic, or other materials. The CNC Machinist is responsible for operating the machine effectively to ensure parts are being run efficiently and tolerances are to print. orders and replaces parts as needed for equipment repairs.
