OFFICIAL TITLE: Mail Clerk II
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director for Facilities Operations and Planning Support Services
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
General Statement of Duties: The Mail Clerk II is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all University mail and packages.
Responsibilities:

- (E) Picks up and drops off mail at the United States Postal Service (USPS) on a daily basis; follows established schedules and assists with special requests.

(E) Provides backup to lead when necessary.

(E) Accurately sorts mail for distribution.

(E) Accurately delivers and distributes mail throughout campus on foot, via delivery cart.

(E) Processes incoming and outgoing packages through various delivery service providers; tracks packages from point of receipt to point of distribution; accurately shelves and stores packages; utilizes appropriate software.

(E) Serves as backup for investigating missing packages.

(E) Serves as backup for scheduling Mail Center equipment repairs.

(E) Processes small, large, and other bulk mail requests using appropriate equipment and software.

(E) Assists with coordinating the timely distribution of packages from Publications and Printing Services.

(E) Maintains a working knowledge of all international, federal and state regulations regarding mail.

(E) Processes payment for mail services via the OneCard transaction system.

(E) Assists with maintaining accurate records of mail processing costs, as needed.

(E) Assists in the training and oversight of student workers.

(E) May serve as a backup for Central Receiving and Stockroom in the event of employee absence.

(E) Serves as designated essential personnel; responds to weather and other emergency situations as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- At least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in office work or in work in which the processing of incoming and/or outgoing mail (for example, delivering, sorting, weighing, metering, etc.) was a major duty.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle; possess valid driver's license.

Knowledge of standard maintenance procedures followed in connection with mail-processing and handling equipment.

Ability to communicate effectively in oral expression; ability to give oral and written instructions in a precise and understandable manner.

Ability to deal tactfully with others and establish harmonious working relationships.

Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.

Ability to maintain accurate records.

Ability to operate mail-handling and processing equipment, such as postage meters, scales, and addressing machines.

Ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes, and/or symbols.

Ability to assemble items of information in accordance with established procedures.

Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.

Ability to understand and apply the laws, rules, policies and procedures governing assigned unit activities.

Bi-weekly salary is $1,520.68 (annual salary is $39,537.68).
Work Schedule:
1ST SHIFT: Monday through Friday, 7:00am- 3:15pm. Days off are Saturday and Sunday.
