Maintains and develops online and batch application programs. Being a Mainframe Programmer develops and implements a disaster recovery plan. Works with project members to develop specifications, diagrams and flowcharts. Additionally, Mainframe Programmer may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. The Z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer will be responsible for the analysis, development, modification, installation, testing and maintenance of mainframe operating systems software. This person needs to possess a strong understanding of mainframe systems programming and control languages. This can involve writing code, testing code for bugs and working with other developers to ensure all components of the mainframe function properly. Modifies and/or debugs vendor-supplied utilities and packages. Modify, install and prepares technical documentation for system software applications. Diagnoses and debugs software problems and performs problem resolution. Monitors systems capacity and performance, plans and is responsible for execution of disaster recovery procedures.
Responsibilities:
Z/OS operation
Z/OS support including problem analysis and resolution
Provide technical support of the mainframe infrastructure to provide high quality customer service and meet SLA expectations.
Significant involvement in upgrade of operating systems to new release
Significant involvement in upgrade of third-party software products to new releases
Contribute to research and development projects as required.
Collaborate with other IT areas and serves as a technical resource and subject matter expert.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Must have 10 years of experience in mainframe technical support.
