Per policy GDBA, the district will recognize up to ten years of similar, previous experience of an employee when placing that employee on the salary schedule. The highest step a classified staff employee may enter the district is at step 11 of the salary schedule.
BUILDING CUSTODIAN

REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance and Principal.
JOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play
and develop.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Keep building and premises including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times.
1. Shovel and/or plow sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriate.
2. Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are locked and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
3. Sweep classrooms and dusts furniture daily.
4. Clean corridors after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it.
5. Scrub and disinfect toilets, floors, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
6. Wash all windows on both the inside and outside.
7. Keep the grounds free from rubbish.
8. Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
9. Clean all whiteboards/chalkboards daily.
10. Secure all windows and doors within area of assigned responsibility.
11. Maintain confidential nature of all school related matters.
12. Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months. Salary set by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on
Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and well-being of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
